Putnam County Star auditions coming up

Sunday, June 19, 2016

Anyone looking to be the next Putnam County Star needs to be at the Putnam County Fairgrounds this weekend.

The chance to join 2015 winner Tony Patrick, 2014 winner Cord Watkins and 2013 star Melissa Claycomb Warner begins at Harris Hall on Friday and Saturday.

Tryouts for the fourth annual singing contest at the Putnam County Fair are set for 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 24 and from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.

The contest is open to vocalists 13-50 years old.

Organizers only request a 90-second a cappella song for the preliminary judges on either day of auditions. Singers may also use an acoustic instrument but none will be provided.

Participants need not be Putnam County residents.

Those selected as finalists will go on to the multi-night competition at the 2015 Putnam County Fair, with the contest taking place nightly from 7-10 p.m. from July 24-27.

Anyone with questions regarding the auditions or competition may email putcostar@gmail.com for more information.
