Beautiful weather on Saturday made for the chance of an early start on Father's Day celebrations, which many local families did at the fourth annual Touch-A-Truck event. One such father-son combo is Michael and 17-month-old Griffin Roberts, who get a lesson in backhoe operation from Area 30 construction equipment instructor Scott Livesay.

Elsewhere, Yoshino Sakuma (left), 5, of Greencastle, shows her glee after sounding the air horn on the brand-new Putnam County Highway Department dump truck.

Meanwhile, Putnam County ABATE volunteer Buzz Hutcheson guides three-year-old Mason Heavin, Greencastle, around the Children's Motorcycle Adventure track. Sponsored by the Friends of the Putnam County Library, the event gives kids a chance to get up close and personal with a variety of motorized vehicles while raising money for the local Imagination Library program.
