A Reelsville native has been selected as one of the 20 incoming students to receive the President's Scholarship at Indiana State University.

ALYSSA YOCOM is the daughter of Steven Kent and Jennifer Yocom. She participated in Spanish Club, National Honor Society and multiple community service projects at Clay City High School.

She was also the captain of the basketball and softball teams. Yocom plans to major in athletic training.

The President's Scholarship, awarded to 20 incoming students, provides full, in-state tuition and premium housing and has a total four-year value of more than $78,000.

The recipients are chosen based on their academic merit during their time in high school, personal accomplishments and interviews during their on campus visits.

Recent Cloverdale High School graduate MARIAH HUGE has been awarded a $1,500 scholarship from America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. In the fall, Huge will study animal science at Purdue University.

Huge exemplifies the quality of students who are selected for Grow Ag Leaders scholarships. "Mariah is very deserving of a scholarship. She is an exceptionally hard worker and strives for success," Cloverdale FFA adviser Callie Edie said. "I am very excited to see her hard work pay off as she is rewarded for the work she has put in to FFA to make it an exceptional program at the local and national level."

The future of agriculture relies on talented young people like Huge to fill thousands of jobs in a variety of fields such as plant science, engineering, communications, finance and more.
