Blues Side Up, Balka for ParkFest

With only three weeks remaining, the 2016 edition of Greencastle ParkFest is quickly coming to a close.

On Tuesday the free concert series sponsored by the Greencastle Civic League will feature Blues Side Up and Mike Balka.

The show runs from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Bob Flanigan Bandshell at Robe-Ann Park. Food will be for sale from Anthony's New York Style Pizzeria.

Blues Side Up is a musical combination of American rock 'n' roll and bluesy rock playing cover songs as well as originals off of their two CDs.

Band members are Steve St.Pierre on guitar and vocals, Jonathan January on bass guitar, flute and vocals, Dennis Rivers on drums and vocals and Mike Rolle on guitar and vocals.

Collectively, this band has several decades of musical prowess and continually serves up professional entertainment.

The band has played local, regional and national shows as a band over the past five years.

Mike Balka is happily married to Jeni Balka and the father/stepfather of four. He is the former executive director of Autumn Glen.

He is a board member of the Putnam County Community Foundation and former president of the Greencastle Rotary Club.

Balka also identifies himself as a "nun-chuck and chopstick specialist."

Additionally, he cannot read sheet music and doesn't want to.

The last two ParkFest shows of the season include:

July 5 -- Fret Set, Covered Bridge Harmony and The Syds.

July 12 -- Ryan Young, Mongrel Dogs and Saturday Shoes.inals off of their two CDs.
