Bane-Welker Equipment helps food banks

Sunday, June 26, 2016

Bane-Welker Equipment (BWE) recently partnered with Ivy Tech Community College, Catholic Charities in Terre Haute and Westminster Village and Wabash Valley Master Gardeners in a project that contributed to local food banks throughout the state.

BWE is an agriculture equipment company offering new and used equipment, parts, sales, service, precision farming and customer support.

For their part of the three-phase project, the business provided precision farming equipment and expertise for the Ivy Tech students who planted 6 acres of land in sweet corn.

In all, the project was able to help an estimated 40,000 people in food banks as far away as Ft. Wayne, and project organizers hope to make it an on-going event.

"This is one of those projects that you just feel great about helping with," CEO of BWE Phil Bane said. "These amazing leaders had this terrific idea to do something to positively impact the community and also teach our young, aspiring farmers about some pretty significant technology. We were honored to be a part of it."

BWE has local stores in Crawfordsville, Lebanon and Terre Haute. For more information about BWE, visit www.Bane-Welker.com.
