County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 4:14 p.m. on Monday, Reddie J. Rhoades, 57, Blytheville, Ark., was lodged at the jail for assisting a criminal.

* At 10:50 p.m. on Sunday, Pattie M. Stanifer, 30, Cloverdale, was arrested for domestic battery, resisting law enforcement, operating while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement and battery with moderate bodily injury

At 5:17 a.m. Kagan Sherron Jeter, 20, Coatesville, was charged with operating while intoxicated and for being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

* At 1:59 p.m. on Saturday, Brandon Lee Runnells, 26, Poland, was housed at the jail for possession of paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

At 12:42 a.m. Datrevian Javonte Holder, 20, Greencastle, was booked in on a warrant.

* At 4:31 p.m. on Friday, Adam David Lawless, 32, Greencastle, was taken into custody for arson

At 4:57 a.m. Kerry Justin Moore, 55, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

At 1:21 a.m. Lou Kapp, 53, Poland, was arrested on a warrant.

City Police

An 89-year-old Greeencastle woman was injured when her car struck the porch of a home at the northwest corner of Vine and Franklin streets, Greencastle City Police officers reported.

Florence Dockery was taken to Putnam County Hospital via Operation Life ambulance with a right foot injury and chest pain as the result of air bags deploying on her 2011 Chevrolet Malibu during an accident at 4:35 p.m. Friday.

Dockery was attempting to pull away from the Old National Bank drive through when she reportedly couldn't get the car into gear properly. After receiving advice to hold down the brake, she didn't realize she was also holding down the accelerator pedal, Officer Darrel Bunten reported, and when she let up on the brake pedal the car reportedly shot forward, crossing Franklin Street, going over the curb, through a decorative fence and striking the porch supports at the corner residence owned by Eric Wolfe of Greencastle.

Damage was reported to the fence, brick porch and service door along with structural damage and damage to the interior plaster, including a two-foot crack above the door

Total damage was estimated at $10,000-$25,000

Three recent citations were issued by city officers.

* At 5:06 p.m. Monday, Samantha Mayhew, 23, Indianapolis, was cited by Reserve Officer Jes Seipel.

Stopped on Jackson Street, Mayhew was ticketed for having no operator's license when required.

* At 3:08 p.m. Monday, Garrett Ramey, 22, Brazil, was cited by Reserve Officer Seipel.

Ramey was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

* At 12:50 p.m. Friday, Gregory Cochran, 24, Greencastle, was ticketed by Reserve Officer Billy Wallace.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, Cochran was cited for a seatbelt violation.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County Sheriff's department personnel responded to four recent property-damage accident.

* At 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Cody J. Storkman, 24, Bainbridge, was backing up in a private driveway on County Road 25 West.

Storkman told Capt. Tom Helmer he failed to see the parked 2006 Mercury Milan registered to Denis Kyle, Danville, backing into the right side of the vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 9:38 p.m. on Friday, Chatles W. Schmidtke, 35, Avon, was backing his 2003 Ford F250 in a private drive on Fairway Drive.

Schmidtke told Deputy Elizabeth Campbell he failed to see a parked 2009 Ford Escape registered to Elizabeth Demmings, Greencastle, backing into the front driver side bumper.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

Deputy Matt Biggs assisted Campbell.

* At 8:10 p.m. on Friday, Mary L. Poole, 57, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 600 North approaching County Road 600 West in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee.

Deputy Jacob Harrington reported that Poole failed to stop at the T intersection, running off the road before coming to rest on an earthen embankment.

Poole tested at .22 blood alcohol content on the portable breath test before testing at .19 on the certified test. She was booked in the Putnam County Jail at 11:10 p.m. for driving while intoxicated.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 10:46 a.m. on Friday, two vehicles backed out of facing driveways on Ivanwald Drive and into one another.

Tiera R. Vaughan, 24, Reelsville, was backing out of her driveway in a 2000 Honda CRV. Taylor C. Pope, 21, Bainbridge, was turning around in the other driveway in a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman reported that each driver failed to observe the other.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to five dispatches and eight medical assists.

* At 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to an unauthorized burn at 1007 Avenue D. Reports from neighboring residences were received. GFD extinguished the flames and returned to station at 10:35 p.m.

* At 1:08 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to reports of gas at 1133 Avenue E. GFD performed tests in the area and found nothing. GFD subsequently returned to station at 1:39 a.m.

* At 12:19 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 413 S. Locust St.

* At 10:27 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a call on Wood Street near Robe-Ann Park in regard to wires that had short-circuited during Greencastle's annual fireworks show. GFD secured the area until workers from Duke Energy could arrive and handle the situation.

* At 11:33 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 16 S. Jackson St. GFD determined that a water leak had caused the alarm system to be set off unnecessarily and returned to station at 12:10 p.m.
