Walter 'Ted' Earl Weddle

Walter "Ted" Earl Weddle, 85, passed away at home with his family by his side on Friday, July 8, 2016.

Ted was born March 20, 1931 in Harmony, the son of the late Johnson and Dora Ruth (Payton) Weddle.

He married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty Jane" Hugg, on Nov. 23, 1949. Together they raised four children and a niece.

Over the years he has been given the name "The Godfather" by his children.

Ted worked for Western Southern Life Insurance for 35 years. He had an array of hobbies, but some of his favorites were antique clock restoration, beekeeping and gardening. He also enjoyed canning, tinkering with antique cars and tractors, and collected watches.

Ted was an avid artist and designed the City Seal for Brazil. He will be remembered for his financial frugality and the sound advice he would give.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and his grandson, Ronald Jo Alexander.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jane Weddle; four children, Ray Kelly Weddle (Penny), Teddi Beard (Dan), Jay Weddle (Kate) and Beth Weddle; niece Janet Young (Buck); 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 10 at French Funeral Home, Brazil, with Pastor Ernie Rush officiating.

Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
