Ray C. Gilfoy, 60, passed away the morning of Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Union Hospital, Clinton.

Ray was born Dec. 23, 1955 in Clinton, Ind., to Jack and Elizabeth (Manship) Gilfoy.

He graduated from Clinton High School in 1974 and from Ivy Tech - Terre Haute in 1976 with an Associate of Science degree in accounting.

Ray served as a member of the South Vermillion School Board.

He also served as a member of Clinton Optimist Club, and as secretary, vice president, president, judge and chairman of the annual Duck Race.

He was in the banking business for 40 years, most recently at First Bank and Trust of Paris, Ill.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Howard and Margaret Chase; sisters-in-law Susie Lancaster and Dee Chase, as well as brother-in-law Richard Inman.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Liz Chase Gilfoy, whom he married on Oct. 16, 1976, and were soon to celebrate their 40th anniversary; sons T.J. (Sarah) and Chase (Hillari Falls); sisters Vicki (Jim) Spendal and Martha (Gary) Vitaniemi; brother Jack (Joyce) Gilfoy; sisters-in-law Patricia Inman, Margaret Chase (Bruce Robbins), Cathy (Rick) Sears and Teresa (David) Masten; brothers-in-law Howard (Betty) Chase and Richard (Elaine) Chase; grandsons Archie and Ellis Gilfoy; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Ray's life would seem too short to many, but those who were influenced by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. You will be missed and loved by everyone.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at Frist Funeral Home, Clinton.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday with visitation 12-1 with Marta Adubato officiating.
