Greencastle VFW to honor local police with cookout event Saturday

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

Greencastle's Jesse M. Lee VFW Post 1550 will honor all Putnam County police officers and their families this Saturday, July 16.

From 1-9 p.m. at the post, located at 819 S. Jackson St., grilled hamburgers, hotdogs and all the trimmings will be served.

The public, including children, is invited to the free event.

New Post Commander Gary McBride said the post is very compassionate about acknowledging all public service people and wanted have an event to show appreciation of all Putnam County officers in light of the recent Dallas shootings.

He said the VFW is considering making the event an annual occasion for the post.
