City sidewalk improvement project continues Monday

Friday, July 15, 2016

The City of Greencastle has announced that on Monday, July 18, sidewalk improvements will start on the northwest side of town.

The following streets in the community are affected:

-- The west side of Houck Road, north of Eagle Court.

-- The south side of Eagle Court just west of Houck Road.

-- The intersection of Talon Court and Houck Road.

Work may involve the replacement of sidewalks across driveways that may cause an inconvenience to neighboring property owners, city officials said.

Property owners are asked to have vehicles out of driveways so as not to be blocked in by missing sidewalks or wet cement. Once the concrete in the driveway areas is properly cured, the driveways can be reopened.

Other work may involve the replacement of nearby handicapped ramps.

Property owners are being notified by individual door hangars. Work will proceed as weather permits.

"The city greatly appreciates the patience of the adjoining property owners while these repairs and improvements are completed," Mayor Bill Dory said.

The work is part of the annual sidewalk improvement program implemented by the Public Works Department of the City of Greencastle.

Joe Spiker Excavating of Greencastle is the contractor for the project.
