Dine with a Doc sets Dr. Richardson as Monday speaker

Senior Education Ministries Inc. has scheduled its next Dine with a Doc session for Monday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at Putnam County Hospital (PCH), 1542 Bloomington St., Greencastle.

Dr. James Richardson, MD, will be the guest speaker.

Richardson joined the PCH outpatient clinic as a representative of the Comprehensive Infectious Diseases of Indiana team in June of this year, seeing patients every Wednesday afternoon on the third floor in the outpatient clinic area of the hospital.

Dr. Richardson not only graduated from the IU School of Medicine -- he also completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the university, as well. He completed his Infectious Disease Fellowship at Vanderbilt University in 1996 and began a private practice in 2004.

In addition to being a successful physician, Dr. Richardson has received awards that include the Distinguished Service Award from the Church of the Nazarene for his mission work and the National Medal of Honor from Nicaragua for his humanitarian work.

Dr. Richardson has served as the TB contract physician for the Indiana State Board of Health for five years and currently serves on the Hendricks County Health Board.

In his spare time, Dr. Richardson goes on a ministry trip every year to help others through Christian organizations. He has traveled to more than 30 countries to provide medical care to those in need.

Dr. Richardson and wife Melodie live on his family farm where he has built an open-air amphitheater which has seen three benefit concerts within the past year.

Hickory Creek at Sunset will offer a complimentary wellness clinic that will include blood-pressure screening.

Dine with a Doc is a free community-based program that welcomes the local senior public to attend and hear an educational topic while enjoying a complimentary lunch. Those interested are encouraged to simply bring a questioning mind, an appetite and a friend.
