Aug. 6 car show at fairgrounds to benefit Riley Children's Hospital

Classic cars will be on display when the seventh annual Children's Miracle Network Car Show returns to the Putnam County Fairgrounds ion Saturday, Aug. 6.

Admission is free to the public.

Cars like this classic 1966 Ford Mustang will be on display at the seventh annual Children's Miracle Network Car Show Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Putnam County fairgrounds.

Approximately 180 cars, trucks and motorcycles are expected to compete in multiple major categories with awards going to the top 45 entries.

The addition of motorcycles is new this year, while two monster trucks have already committed to the show.

This year's goal is to raise $10,000 for Riley Children's Hospital at Indianapolis, topping last year's take of more than $9,000, spokesman Larry Hall said for the organizers

On-site registration starts at 9 a.m. with judging at 11 a.m. and awards at 2 p.m.

Registration fee is $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the show.

The first 100 entries will receive a dash plaque.

In addition to an indoor vendors' fair, concessions, music and food (including Myers' Market ribeye steak lunches) will be available.

Rain date for the car show is Sunday, Aug. 7.
