County Jail

Six people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

Saturday

-- At 7:15 p.m., Jerrod L. Bridges, 22, of Greencaslte, was lodged at the jail on charges of battery with bodily injury.

Sunday

-- At 12:23 a.m., Paul E. McKinney, 34, of Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail on charges of probation violation.

-- At 3:28 a.m., Za Nmi Hup, 44, of Indianapolis, was booked into the jail on charges of operating while intoxicated.

-- At 11:26 a.m., Richard S. Shrout, 21, of Greencastle, was booked into the jail on charges of theft.

Monday

-- At 2:38 p.m., Taylor J. Burk, 21, of Reelsville, was lodged at the jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and a local warrant for theft.

-- At 5:01 p.m., Michael T. Tewes, 27, of Greencastle, was booked into the jail on a local warrant.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to two recent property-damage crashes.

-- At 12:45 p.m. July 18, Emma G. Shrout, 17, of Fillmore, was traveling west in a 2002 Dodge Stratus SE when she lost control and hit a power pole near CR 425 E.

Deputy Donnie Pettit estimated front-end damage at $5,000-$10,000.

No injuries were reported, but an infant passenger was taken to Hendricks Regional Hospital for evaluation.

-- At 6:21 a.m. on July 20, Raymond E. Zufall, 38, of Terre Haute, was traveling north in a 2002 Saturn LS1 Auto on CR 375 W. (Manhattan Road) when he hydroplaned in an "S" curve and landed in the ditch.

Deputy Mike Downing estimated front driver side damage at $1,000-$2,500. The vehicle was towed, but there were no injuries.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to five dispatches and three medical assists.

* At 5:18 p.m. on Friday, GFD assisted in the cleanup of fluids and debris from the scene of a motor-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Road 240 and Tennessee Street.

* At 2:18 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 1901 E. State Road 240. The cause of the alarm was determined to be unknown.

* At 5:26 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 626 E. Seminary St. However, the DePauw Police Department had already reset the alarm upon arrival.

* At 5:13 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 420 Anderson St.

* At 1:04 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 413 S. Locust St.
