Philip Stevens Band to play for First Friday

On a roll with good weather in June and July, First Friday organizers are hoping for a three-peat this week as the monthly downtown event ushers in the month of August.

First Friday (Aug. 5) will feature the Philip Stevens Open Road Band, with the music beginning at 7 p.m. on the stage on the north side of the courthouse in Greencastle.

Everyone is invited to bring lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of fun and entertainment with friends and family on the courthouse square.

While the music starts at 7, food and booths are expected to be available at 6.

Other featured events and specials this month include:

Almost Home/Swizzle Stick -- Besides sponsoring the Philip Stevens Open Road Band, Almost Home will be grilling outside. The Swizzle Stick Beer Garden will be featuring Gumball Head draft.

Myers Market/5 East Franklin -- Will be featuring its pork products, including the popular pulled pork parfaits, pulled port nachos and pork wings.

Wasser Beer -- Wasser Brewing Co. will be offering a variety of beer brewed in house, including beers brewed true to style in its Abiding Traditions line and beer brewed to a flavor profile in its Artistic Innovations line such as Super 8, Old Gold, Big Walnut and Hoptimism.

Inn at DePauw -- Get a taste of the South this Friday on the Vine Street patio as the inn will be serving up a Carolina low-country shrimp boil and barbecue ribs until they run out. Wash it down with buckets of beer, and spiked Arnold Palmers. The new pergola features fans to keep it cool while you enjoy your dinner.

Cricket's Unique Boutique -- Check in on social media accounts while visiting Cricket's (110 S. Vine St.) and be entered to win $50 in Cricket's Cash. Cricket's will celebrate First Friday with 10 percent off total purchase. Conspire: Contemporary Craft -- Open until 9 p.m. with 10 percent off all Teehaus soaps and skincare. Come in and ask for a sample of organic teas. Will also be on the square from 6-8 p.m. with coupons for Aug. 29 grand opening at Conspire's new location, 2 W. Washington St.
