Weliever's 51 paces GHS over Monrovia

Greencastle opened the high school girls' golf season on Monday by defeating Monrovia 229-249.

Alex Weliever led the Tiger Cubs with a 51 and was the meet medalist.

"We got off to a good start," GHS coach Bob Hedge said. "I was very happy for Alex, as this was the first time she has been medalist."

Macey Masten was close behind with a 54, while Lindsey Bridgewater carded a 55, Gabby Selvia had a 69 and Rose White had a 73.

"Rose did very well for her first nine holes ever," Hedge said.

The Tiger Cubs participated in the Braves' Invitational on Tuesday, hosted by Terre Haute South at Rea Park.

Results were not available by the Banner Graphic press time.

The Tiger Cubs return to action on Monday at Windy Hill by hosting Lebanon and North Putnam at 4:30 p.m.
