Doris Ileene Stites

Doris Ileene Stites, 94, of Greencastle, passed away Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016.

She was born April 28, 1922 to the late Arthur Morgan and Helen Mae Ash Geabes.

She married Kenneth C. Stites on May 12, 1948. He passed away on Dec. 26, 1968.

She worked for White Cleaners and Laundry, A&P Grocery Store, and eventually JC Penney, retiring from there after 32½ years in October 1983.

Doris had a keen interest in real estate as a hobby. A true pioneer in "house flipping," she owned multiple properties in Greencastle and Florida.

Doris is survived by her sister, Cornelia Ley of Greencastle; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Virginia Hetser and Wayne Geabes.

Private services will be conducted at Hopkins -- Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.
