Whitney Weinschenk attempts a corner kick in Tuesday night's match.

Whitney Weinschenk is a senior at Greencastle High School. She competes in multiple sports this fall, in addition to participating in several school clubs, and also competes in track and field in the spring.

Banner Graphic: What sports do you play in school?

Whitney Weinschenk: Track, football and soccer.

BG: What other school activities do you participate in?

WW: Spanish Club, Latin Club, Key Club, Diversity Club and Student Council.

BG: You were academic all-state last year in track. What is your class rank?

WW: I currently have a 4.0, tied with three other classmates for valedictorian.

BG: How do you manage to get everything done?

WW: I don't sleep. You have to budget your time. It's hard. Especially with all the advanced classes I'm taking. As soon as I'm done with sports it's go home, eat, shower, homework. After that it's studying for any tests the next day. I use every available minute of the day I can.

BG: What else do you do besides sports, the Girl Scouts program, school clubs and study for school?

WW: I do a lot of volunteering. I do work for the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department, DePauw football games as a PA spotter and at DePauw track and field meets. I'm also a Venture Scout, which is a coed section of the Boy Scouts of America. In the summers, I go to the National Leadership Training Course at White Stag, near Muncie. We teach the boys and girls there to be better leaders, and good things they can do when talking to people and meeting people.

BG: Do you have pets?

WW: I have a dog and a cat. The cat is a little orange thing that doesn't actually meow; she barks. It's kind of weird.

BG: What are your plans after high school?

WW: I am going to college, and I'm hoping to go into a pre-med program and then go on to med school to be a surgeon. I'm looking at Washington University (Mo.), Butler, Iowa and a couple of others. I don't think I'll have time to play college sports, but I will definitely be active. I'll do something on a smaller scale like intramurals.

BG: What do you do that doesn't help people or contribute to society? Things just for Whitney?

WW: I like to read. I do watch some TV shows...... Grey's Anatomy, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., NCIS.

BG: Those are all medical shows. Anything else?

WW: I also like to watch the Big Bang Theory. There are a lot of smart people on it, and it makes me feel smart when I know what they're talking about. I really enjoy everything I do.
