Carl 'Tom' Uhls

Carl "Tom" Uhls, 83, Roachdale, passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on May 8, 1933 in Kentucky to the late Hugh and Mattie (Pierce) Uhls.

On July 3, 1958 he married Elaine (Willett) Uhls. She preceded him in death Nov. 3, 2000.

Tom proudly served our country in the United States Navy.

He worked at Allison Division of General Motors until retiring.

Tom enjoyed fishing, golfing, and hunting, but most of all he enjoyed his family. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his two daughters, Toy Childers, Roachdale, and KanDee (Michael) Mitchem, Roachdale, grandchildren Troy Childers, Mandy Cartwright and Tommy Childers; seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Kyra, Chase, Bailey, Levi, Devin and Waylon; and four sisters, Sherry, Lois, DeShae and Joyce; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sisters, Malette and Phyllis.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green Street, Waveland, with Pastor Phil Bileau officiating and military rites provided by the United States Navy.

Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family 4-8 .m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the funeral home and one hour prior to services Wednesday.
