Stephen Keith Goff

Stephen Keith Goff, of Durango, Colo., passed away at his residence Aug. 17, 2016 after an eight-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 63.

Stephen was born on March 25, 1953 in Crawfordsville to Keith O. Goff and Maxine Lyons Goff.

Stephen grew up in Russellville and graduated from North Putnam High School in 1971. He was active in sports and was class valedictorian.

Stephen graduated from DePauw University in 1975 and received the Malpas and Rector scholarships. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Stephen received his Master of Geology from Louisiana State University and his Master of Business Administration from Denver University in Colorado.

Stephen's career in the oil and gas industry took him around the world and culminated with a decade of service as chief financial officer for Red Willow Production Co. of Ignacio, Colo.

Stephen was a member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. He volunteered with Trout Unlimited, serving on the board of directors of the Five Rivers Chapter in Durango.

Stephen was an avid fly fisherman and loved to spend time with family and friends enjoying nature and being outdoors. He took an active role in coaching his two sons' numerous sports teams.

On Sept. 26, 1981, Stephen married Mary Ann Rafle in Houston. She survives.

He is also survived by his children, Nathan (Diana) Goff, Derek (Alianna) Goff, and grandson William Goff, all of Houston; his mother and stepfather, Maxine and Julian Stout of Roachdale; sister Cynthia (Greg) Demmon of Colorado; stepmother Shirley Goff of Crawfordsville; aunt Betty Gillogly; uncles Richard Lyons and Don Lyons; half-brother Gregg Goff, and step-siblings David Shull and Denise Hole.

Stephen is predeceased by his father, Keith Goff, grandparents Ray and Catherine Lyons, and stepbrother Rick Shull.

According to Stephen's wishes, the family chose cremation. A memorial service will be held Oct. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Durango, Colo.

Stephen was much loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
