Rusty Burge, a member of the acclaimed Percussion Group Cincinnati, swings into The Duck this week with organist Steve Snyder. An active jazz vibraphonist who has recorded for Summit, J Curve Records, Human Records and Telarc, Burge's latest recording is the blissful Faraway (2015) with Bloomington pianist Steve Allee.

DePauw School of Music will serve as the center of a national conversation about the future of music as it hosts some of the world's foremost leaders, thinkers and performers, September 9-11. Connecting like-minded artists, students, teachers, presenters, administrators and change agents, the 21CMposium expands upon the national dialogue about reimagining "best practices" as musicians respond to shifting global marketplaces and cultural landscapes. An opening presentation by Greg Sandow, TED-style talks by Mike Block (Silk Road Ensemble) and Judd Greenstein (New Amsterdam Records), and a performance by the Kronos Quartet are among the experiences to be shared. Green Concert: Kronos Quartet

Presented in conjunction with DePauw's 21CMposium, the incomparable Kronos Quartet opens the 2016-17 Green Guest Artist Concert Series on September 10. For more than 40 years and with over 50 recordings to their credit, these celebrated musicians have combined a spirit of fearless exploration with a courageous commitment to reimagining the string quartet. Saturday's concert includes a world premiere by composer Raven Chacon, commissioned for the ensemble's Fifty for the Future project.
