Friday, September 9, 2016

The Putnam County Museum's Live and Local and A Night At The Museum Fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10.

Seating for the 5:30-8 p.m. event is limited. Interested persons should call the museum to make reservations at 653-8419.

6:45 p.m. Saturday is when this Chevrolet Cobalt will be on the auction block at Live and Local!, the Putnam County Museum fundraiser.

Live music by the Putnam County Relics will begin at 5:30 and continue during the buffet of locally grown and prepared foods.

After dinner auctioneer Jeff Rich will conduct a live auction.

The buffet will include such offerings as locally grown products from the Farmer's Market and area farms, prepared by local guest chefs, including Rhonda Brotherton, Gail Smith, Mickey Meehan, Meredith Mock, Mary Ann Birt and the Area 30 culinary students, Craig Allison of Hog N It All BBQ Team and Mitch Myers.

Participating restaurants include Almost Home, Anthony's, DePauw's Bon Apetit, The Inn at DePauw, Harrison Street Tavern, Myers' Market, Putnam Inn, Starbucks and Wasser Brewery.

The live auction features experiences for the family such as horseback riding, guitar, fly fishing, golf, yoga, personal training and cooking lessons.

Vacation destinations to be auctioned include Wasatch Lake, Wyndham Resorts and French Lick.

A backyard fun pool, a handmade picnic table, a Putnam County plane ride, lunch with the Greencastle mayor, legal services, personal performances by musical artists, Wagoner and Peeler pottery, and more will also be auctioned.

A Chevrolet Cobalt also will be auctioned. It is described as a good car for a young driver and a good-mileage commuter car. It will be on display at the museum starting Sept. 8.

The silent auction will feature a raised garden bed kit, gift cards to Putnam County businesses, Blue Apron delivery, family photo portraits, handmade items from local artisans, personal services and other surprises.

This year, with a paid adult admission, kids can attend A Night at The Museum for a small additional fee of just $5 per family. A Night at The Museum will feature a special dinner menu for the children, a craft to make and take, and other activities inside the museum, while parents and grandparents enjoy the buffet and festivities under the big tent outside.

Money raised during the annual fundraiser enables the museum to continue offering new exhibits, activities and programs for all ages.
