James Elden Hill

James Elden Hill, 86, of Greencastle, was born into eternal life Sept. 3, 2016.

Mr. Hill was born Sept. 3, 1930 to Daniel Boone and Ethel Mae Hill.

He attended Ben Davis High School and served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Following his service in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Hill returned to Indianapolis in 1961 when he purchased his family's long-term care facility, Lynhurst Healthcare, where he worked until his retirement in 2008.

He was a parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greencastle, was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, and was also active in the Lions Club.

He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine; brother Jeff Hill; sister Mary Hill; children Diana (Joe) Bewley, Nelene (Gary) Reisinger and James E. (Anyawee) Hill, Jr.; stepchildren Catherine (Daryl) Sturgis and Leonard Fusco; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel, Morris and Johnny Hill; stepson Lawrence Fusco and granddaughter Katie Lyn.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Greencastle. Burial, with Naval honors,will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Indianapolis.
