Bridgeton sets Milling, Craft Demo Days for Sept. 10-11

BRIDGETON -- The southeastern Parke County town of Bridgeton will host Milling and Craft Demonstration Days, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11.

Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Milling Days at the Bridgeton Mill celebrate the birthday of Oliver Evans, the father of modern milling.

Attendees can take a tour of the Bridgeton Mill, learn about its history and see the 200-year-old French burr stones grinding corn into cornmeal and grits.

Craft Demonstration Days at the 1878 House feature pioneer and modern crafters at work creating their wares. Woodworkers, a chainsaw artist, wood carvers and a rifle maker can all be seen at work. Visitors can learn about spinning, knitting, crochet and macramé while enjoying other crafters demonstrating and selling handmade items.

Also, a birthday party for the Bridgeton Covered Bridge is slated for the afternoon of Sept. 22 in conjunction with the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay Bridgeton is located by taking State Road 59 north from Brazil to the Bridgeton sign and turning left (west).
