Russellville to celebrate 34th annual Roundup

RUSSELLVILLE -- The annual Russellers' Roundup celebration is scheduled this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10- 11.

All events will be at the Russellville Community Center with breakfast served both mornings from 8-11 featuring homemade cinnamon rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs and new this year, omelets.

Lunch/dinner will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. with fish, tenderloin, ham and beans, coneys, hot dogs, sloppy joe, macaroni salad, potato salad, slaw, watermelon, homemade pie and drinks served.

Registration on Saturday for the 5K Walk/Run is at 7:30 a.m. A $20 donation gets you a Russellers' Roundup T-shirt and a breakfast. The 5K begins at 8 a.m. Also at 7:30 a.m. will start the registration for the free PhotoWalk and the walk will begin at 8.

On Saturday the Amish will be present with baked goods, produce and crafts. Other vendors will also be on hand.

The grand opening of the Russellville Depot will be uptown at 10 a.m. with the ribbon cutting. The depot will be open until 5 p.m.

The depot is now home to Cathy Jones Photography and also the Russellville Depot memorabilia. For question about the depot persons may call Cathy Jones at 765-376-1260.

Registration is at 1 p.m. for mini-tractor pull. The tractor pull begins at 2 p.m. behind the community center. For questions about the pull contact Tom Howell at 765-866-0383.

There will be continuous showings of movies in the middle classroom at the community center on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

In the gym on Saturday at 2 p.m. will be a baby and Little Miss and Mister contest.

Interested persons should contact Andrea Winn at 765-592-7020 to register. Registration costs is $3. All children are to be dressed in denim for the contest.

Other events for Saturday include a talent contest at 3:30 p.m. Contact Rhonda Bixler at 765-366-2776 for information. New this year will be a pie baking contest at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Bixler is also in charge of the pie contest.

Cornhole registration is $20 per team. Registration is at 5:30 p.m. Jim McGaughey is in charge of the event and can be contacted at 765-401-1261 if you have questions.

Sunday's events will feature a 9-11 tribute at 10:30 a.m.,followed by the regular church service at 11 a.m. in the gymnasium.

Registration for the car and truck show begins at 9 a.m. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. For questions on the car show, contact Brett Cooper at 765-918-1656.

Uptown the Russellville Depot will be open once again at 11 a.m.

Wade Schenck,who played Ollie in the movie "Hoosiers" will be available for autographs and a presentation at 1 p.m. Sunday. Bring your basketball, T-shirts or anything that you would like for him to sign. His movie will follow.

The entertainment is free to the public. Both Saturday and Sunday will include food vendors, crafts booths, cotton candy, snow cones, lemon shakeups.

Mike Simpson will also have his antique tractors to view. Another attraction will be the smoke house.
