Airport Appreciation Days this weekend at Putnam Regional facility

The annual Putnam County Regional Airport Appreciation Days is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11 at the facility on Greencastle's East Side.

Access to the airport can be made off State Road 240 via Ballard Lane, the first road east of the main Walmart store entrance.

Hours for the event both days are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday's activities will include the Young Eagle Rally with youngsters age 17 and younger being able to fly for free.

Weather permitting, a hot-air balloon launch is slated for noon Saturday.

Meanwhile, available for a ride in the skies at a price during the event will be Cliff Robinson's biplanes and Freedom helicopters.

Big House Fun House Rentals will have a number of inflatable items and more on hand at the airport for youngsters to enjoy.

On Sunday morning, an EAA 1374 pancake breakfast is scheduled.

  • I hope that it is better than last year We have attended every one since we have lived here but last year's was poorly organized and not near the activities of past years. Please do not let this die, it is the only chance some people ever have to get close to aircraft.
