BENNETT HAZELGROVE, a 2014 North Putnam graduate, was recently awarded the Buick Achievers National Scholarship.

Hazelgrove is one of 50 students across the nation to receive this scholarship from General Motors. He was selected from thousands of applicans.

The scholarship is for students seeking a degree in the automotive industry. This is a $25,000 per year scholarship that is renewable for up to five years.

Hazelgrove is a junior at Hawaii Pacific University taking part in a 3/2 mathematics, engineering program.

He is planning on going to the University of Southern California for the engineering section, finishing with a bachelor’s degree in math and mechanical engineering.


XPO Logistics recently recognized MARK ORR of Reelsville for two million miles of safe driving.

Orr and several other honored drivers who operate in long-haul service for XPO’s truckload business were honored this month during a ceremony at the company’s service center in Clive, Iowa.

The company’s million mile safety awards recognize the success of its truck drivers in safely sharing the road with the motoring public while demonstrating professionalism, teamwork and personal character consistent with XPO’s dedication to world-class service for customers.


BILL WILSON, Cloverdale, a, has been elected as an alternate delegate to the 133rd Annual American Angus Association Convention of Delegates, Nov. 7 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

Wilson is one of 260 Angus breeders who have been elected by fellow members to serve as an alternate state representative to the annual meeting. Those serving as state delegates will participate in the business meeting and elect new officers and five directors to the American Angus Association board.
