UPDATE: Missing teenager found
UPDATE: A family member said that Warren has not returned, but is safe as of Sept. 25.
A local family is seeking help finding a 17-year-old missing for more than three weeks.
Marilyn "Joan" Warren was last seen on Aug. 21 on U.S. 40 in Manhattan. Since then, several tips investigated by the Putnam County Sheriff's Department have come up empty.
Joan (pronounced "Jo-Ann"), a student at South Putnam High School, is 5-feet-4-inches tall and weights 130 pounds. She has blond hair and blue eyes.
Father Ashley Warren and stepmother Amber Warren are at a loss to the girl's whereabouts. Investigation has indicated that she is neither with her boyfriend nor with her birth mother or sister, both of whom live out of state.
"There really is no other information. We know when she left here," Amber Warren told the Banner Graphic. "We're at a loss. We have no idea of anything at this point."
The Warrens have spoken to PCSD Deputy Riley Houghton, who is working the case with fellow Deputy Anthony Brown, but thus far several tips have yielded no solid information.
Houghton told the Banner Graphic that PCSD is investigating the case as a runaway. He added that Warren's case has been entered in the statewide data and communications system.
Deputies have been investigating more leads in recent days.
"We're still actively pursuing the case," Houghton said.
The family has also requested information through a Facebook account at www.facebook.com/findingjoanwarren, where they are also trying to keep people up to date on any new developments in the search.
Anyone with information on Joan's whereabouts is asked to call Putnam County Dispatch at 765-653-5115. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to her return.
