Torchbearers: Saturday, Sept. 17

The Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay will pass through Putnam County from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Featured in this edition of the Banner Graphic are three of 21 torchbearers for Putnam County.

Mark Hammer

Mark is a lifelong resident of Putnam County. He has served for 20 years as a member of the Greencastle City Council where he has shared his professional accounting expertise and his dedication to the well being and quality of life of our community.

Biking his way along the route, Mark Hammer will travel with the bicentennial relay torch to Valley Forge Drive in Heritage Lake.


Dan Holmes

Dan is an avid bicyclist. He respects our community’s past while actively promoting the development and use of Putnam County’s growing multi-use People Pathways trail system for both recreation and commuting. He is working to encourage all of us to work together to connect communities across Indiana.

Dan is am a member of the National Wheelmen, a group dedicated to the preservation and restoration of antique bicycles. He will be riding a high wheeler.

Dan Holmes will ride a high wheeler bike while carrying the torch from Valley Forge and onto County Road 500 North.


Clint Maddox

Clint is a longtime Putnam County Highway employee and lifelong resident of Putnam County. Clint is an advocate of non-motorized transportation for both recreation and commuting and supports the multi-use People Pathway trail system.

Continuing down the bicentennial route Clint Maddox will bike with the torch along County Road 500 North to County Road 275 East.
