Bainbridge announces upcoming plans, events

Several events and preparations have been announced by the town office of Bainbridge. They include:

• Homecoming Parade -- North Putnam High School’s annual homecoming parade will be held today (Friday, Sept. 16) at 5 p.m. in Bainbridge. Streets affected will include South Cherry Street, West Main Street and South Washington Street. The parade will begin at Bainbridge Elementary School.

• Torch Relay -- Indiana’s Bicentennial Torch Relay will be coming through Bainbridge on Thurdsay, Sept. 22 at approximately 7:45 p.m. The route will include East Oak Street, South Washington Street and East Main Street.

• Booth space available -- Town hall is currently renting booth space for the upcoming Covered Bridge Festival at the Bainbridge Community Building, located at 201 N. Grant Ave. Rates include 10-foot-square spaces for $10 per day. All proceeds will benefit the Bainbridge Improvement Society. Contact town hall at 522-6238 to rent.

• Back-to-school Food Drive -- Town hall will continue accepting non-perishable food donations through the end of September. Donations will go to the Two Fish pantry.

• Fundraiser -- The Bainbridge Improvement Society will be hosting a barbecue fundraiser at the Bainbridge Community Building (see address above) on Friday, Sept. 20 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

• Road paving projects -- for a quote concerning driveway paving, contact town hall at 522-6238.
