Indianapolis woman arrested in Putnamville trafficking incident
PUTNAMVILLE -- A female visitor was arrested Friday at the Putnamville Correctional Facility (PCF) on charges of attempted trafficking of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
Both charges are Level 5 felonies punishable by 1-6 years in prison.
Danielle Moore, 32, of Indianapolis, was attempting to visit with offender Dejon Pitchford when she allegedly attempted to pass the inmate 10 small strips believed to be suboxone and a package of what appeared to be synthetic marijuana.
She was arrested by a PCF police officer after she surrendered the contraband. She was transported to the Putnam County Jail for booking.
Dejon Pitchford is currently serving a 1,095-day sentence for robbery out of Marion County, and has a current release date of Feb. 7, 2017.
Offender Pitchford is currently in restricted housing under investigation.
"This was a great find by our staff and should prove to outside visitors that bringing in contraband will not be tolerated and the act will be prosecuted," PCF Superintendent Brian Smith said. "Thank you to everyone involved for their hard work and dedication."
