Dr. Dennis Goldberg, 63, of Greencastle, was born into eternal life on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016.

Dr. Goldberg was born June 8, 1953 to Arnold and Dorothy Goldberg.

He was a true ISU Sycamore, earning all three of his degrees in education from Indiana State University.

Dr. Goldberg had a passion for education, serving students in many capacities, including principal of Greencastle High School, assistant superintendent for Greensburg, and chief financial officer for Brown County Schools.

His professional affiliations included the Indiana Association of School Business Officials, Rotary Club and vice president of District 8 Indiana High School Principals Association.

Perhaps his greatest passion was wrestling. He was a four-time All-American, captain of his NCAA Division I college team, and captain of the New York Athletic Club team, the 1975 National Champions. He was head varsity coach for various teams for 12 years and head coach of the Indiana National Freestyle Wrestling team in 1986 and 1989.

His efforts in wrestling touched countless lives, and he passionately sought the restoration of the wrestling program at Indiana State University.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Janice; siblings Thom (Zoe Kopp) Namaya, Claire (Frank) Giancola, and Julie (Martin Springer) Goldberg; daughter Jaida Goldberg; stepchildren Jackie (Donny) Barger and Jake (Rachel) Neumann; and six step-grandchildren.
