County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 8:03 p.m. Troy Don Badgley, 40, Shelbyville, was housed at the jail for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 7:59 p.m. Michael James Medley, 44, Indianapolis, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 12:54 p.m. Michael L. Sadler, 60, Gosport, was taken into custody on a warrant.

• At 12:28 p.m. Danny Joe Lehr, 47, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

One summons was issued early Friday by Greencastle City Police oficers.

• At 2:29 a.m., Charles Alexander, 31, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Brad Hiatt.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Alexander received a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Department

• At 9:38 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, Jesse M. Barker, 35, Roachdale, was westbound on State Road 236 near County Road 775 East in a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer when he hit a deer.

Reserve Deputy Ken Rozelle estimated damage at $5,001-$10,000.

Rozelle was assisted by Reserve Deputy Gordon Stone.

• At approximately 8 p.m. on Friday, Scarlett F. Randolph, 28, Roachdale, was traveling in a 2006 Pontiac G6 when she hit a deer.

Randolph reported the accident several hours later and told Deputy Jacob Harrington she did not know on what road the crash occurred.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 7 p.m. on Friday, Ethan L. Atwood, 23, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 at U.S. 40 in a 2012 Ford Fusion. Ashton B. Reynolds, 16, Cloverdale, was northbound at the intersection in a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer.

Atwood told Deputy Houghton he had a green light and was proceeding through the intersection when Reynolds turned in front of him and he could not avoid the collision.

Reynolds said he began turning left when he hesitated and then continued, colliding head-on with Atwood.

Both vehicles were towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 3:20 p.m. on Friday, Herbert Carter, 81, Cloverdale, was southbound on State Road 243 approaching County Road 900 South in a 2006 Saturn Vue. Mark Snow, 52, Fillmore, was northbound in a 2006 Kenworth T80 dump truck registered to Collisi Trucking Services.

As the vehicles entered a curve, they sideswiped one another. At first, Carter told Deputy Lanning that the dump truck entered his lane. He later said they both may have simply been close to the yellow line.

Snow said Carter crossed into his lane. Lanning also found a large amount of ground debris that indicated him leaving the road to avoid the crash.

Carter’s vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 11:40 a.m. on Friday, Joshua G. Stockwell, 31, Clayton, was stopped southbound on North Main Street, Fillmore, was picking up trash containers in a 2006 Kenwood garbage truck registered to Ray’s LLC. Macey R. Hanks, 18, Fillmore, was also southbound in a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe.

Stockwell said he was stopped and his passenger, Thomas Archer of Mooresville, exited the vehicle to pick up containers. Archer saw Hanks approaching and realized she was going to rear-end the trash truck, so he ran west from the scene.

Hanks told Capt. Tom Helmer she had noticed someone in the parking lot of the Fillmore store and failed to see the stopped garbage truck, rear-ending the larger vehicle.

Hanks complained of chest and head pain and was checked out by Operation Life. She signed a medical release, with family members saying they would take her to a medical facility.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 6:36 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, Gary W. Van Buren, 75, Eagle Lake, Fla., was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 2011 Toyota van.

Van Buren told Deputy Anthony Brown he fell asleep on his way to Cloverdale from the Covered Bridge Festival. The vehicle left the road and hit a mailbox at 1488 W. U.S. 40.

After hitting the mailbox the vehicle continued eastbound, hitting and coming to rest on a metal barrier.

The van was towed. Damage was estimated between $5,001-$10,000.
