• At 2:29 a.m. on Wednesday, Larado E. Upshaw, 23, East Chicago, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu in the Plessinger Hill area.

Upshaw told Deputy Anthony Brown he was passing a camper that was traveling slowly. Upshaw then lost control as he crested a hill just north of JTN Services. The vehicle crossed both northbound lanes and rolled over in the ditch, coming to rest facing northwest.

• At 11:49 p.m. on Wednesday, Deputy Brown was dispatched to U.S. 40 and State Road 243 to investigate a report of a male walking southbound covered in blood. Prior to his arrival, Cloverdale Officer David Brown located the man.

Deputy Brown met with Keith A. Hammon, 42, Cloverdale, who said he had broken down on old State Road 243. Deputy Brown found Hammon’s 2001 Chevrolet Silverado sitting at 5591 S. CR 75 West.

Deputy Brown discovered that Hammon’s vehicle had been southbound on 75 West when it crested a hill at 550 South. It then veered left into the ditch, where it hit a tree and rolled end over end before coming to rest.

Hammon was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for severe bleeding to his head.

The truck was towed. Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
