George Bland Durham

George Bland Durham, 68, Melbourne, Fla., lost his battle with leukemia on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016.

Born in Greencastle on Aug. 21, 1948, George was the son of the late J. Frank and Frances H. Durham of Greencastle.

After graduating from Greencastle High School, George joined the U.S. Air Force, where his talent for languages was discovered.

He enjoyed a successful career in the government.

Upon retirement he obtained a Master of Science in computer science from the University of Maryland and worked as a software engineer.

In 2009 he met and married Pamela Krantz, with whom he shared a love of travel.

George leaves behind his beloved wife and soulmate Pamela K. Durham; two exceptional children from a previous marriage, Frances K. Durham and Christian F. Durham; his talented stepson Douglas E. Krantz II; his brother and comrade Andrew Durham (Amanda); sisters and cohorts Stephanie Durham and Madeleine D. Thomas (Keith); 10 nieces and nephews; and six cousins.

A gravesite service will take place at 11 a.m. on Dec. 9 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle. Those wishing to pay respects are welcome.
