The DePauw University men’s basketball team defeated Boyce 98-58 on Tuesday to collect its first win of the 2016-17 season.

DePauw made 17 3-pointers and was one shy of tying the single-game mark for most 3-pointers made in a game, which was set back in 2005.

Luke Lattner again led DePauw with 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Jack VandeMerkt collected a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. He also had three blocks. David Vogel was 3-of-3 from beyond the arc for 11 points.

James Clarke and Cris Burrough each added nine points. John Starkey pulled down eight rebounds off the bench.

Bench scoring was key for the DePauw, outscoring Boyce 43-16. Everyone who dressed saw at least six minutes of action.

DePauw pulled away from an 8-7 lead after an 18-0 run brought it to 26-7 with 10:20 remaining in the first half. That turned into a 56-26 lead at the half.

Boyce never held a lead, while DePauw took its lead to as high as 45 with 5:15 remaining.

DePauw shot 47 percent (34-of-73) and 55 percent (17-of-31) from 3-point range.

The Tigers move to 1-2, and Boyce drops to 2-6.

The Tigers return Saturday to face East-West in the UChicago Tournament.
