FOP Santa Drop effort needs public’s help

Sunday, November 27, 2016

It is that time to help needy children locally, and the Putnam County Fraternal Order of Police is asking for the public’s help again.

For the past 20 years the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 92 has delivered toys to needy children in Putnam County in a program known as the “FOP Santa Drop.”

Organizers note that 100 percent of all the donations received will go toward Christmas presents for kids.

Applications are thoroughly screened and sorted with the most needy children at the top of the list.

Presents are then wrapped by Area 30 Career Center law enforcement students and delivered by Santa Claus.

Donations can be dropped off at the Greencastle Police Department or mailed to the Greencastle Police Department at 600 N. Jackson St., Greencastle, IN 46135.

If you know someone in need, applications can be picked up at the Greencastle Police Department during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The deadline for dropping off applications is 4 p.m. Dec. 9.

Persons who have questions may contact GPD Assistant Chief Brian Hopkins at 848-1539.
