Glenn Edward Thornburg, also known as Cecil McGaughy, 85, of Russellville, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family.

Born April 30, 1931, in Union City, Ind., he was the son of Charles Thornburg and Arletta Cooper Thornburg, and raised by Fred and Hazel McGaughy.

He married Betty Lou Turner on April 2, 1950.

Glenn retired from the iron workers union in 1990.

His hobbies included stock car racing, fishing, hunting, gardening and playing cards.

Survivors include his nine children, Debbie (Jay) Harris of Florida, Tony (Deantha) Thornburg of Crawfordsville, Ralph (Angel) Thornburg of Ladoga, Alan (Debby) Thornburg of Arkansas, Eddie (Janet) Thornburg of Russellville, Duffy (Kristi) Thornburg of Crawfordsville, Judy (George) Hassellburg of Roachdale, Opal (Terry) Daley of Crawfordsville, and Bill (Michelle) Thornburg of Russellville; 24 grandchildren; 60 plus great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Betty Lou Thornburg, and daughter-in-law Debbie Thornburg.

Graveside services for family are scheduled to be on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Hebron Cemetery.
