County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 9:19 p.m. Richard E. Mullis, 37, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on a probation violation.

• At 5:36 p.m. Derrick Wilson Johnson, 28, Lincoln, Ill., was booked in for probation violation.

• At 12:33 a.m. Christopher Todd Smith, 24, Greencastle, was taken into custody for false informing and possessing an lookalike substance as well as on a local warrant for inhaling toxic vapors and disorderly conduct.

Tuesday

• At 4:02 p.m. Wesley Nathan January, 26, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a Marion County warrant.

• At 3:37 p.m. Ashlee Erin Nelson, 35, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a warrant for theft and violation of probation.

• At 1:52 a.m. Landon James Patterson, 24, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

A four-vehicle accident on the city’s East Side Tuesday afternoon resulted in an estimated $10,000-$25,000 damage, Greencastle City Police officers reported.

Assistant Chief Brian Hopkins reported that Danny Rogers, 63, Monrovia, was westbound on State Road 240, approaching Calbert Way, when he was stopped in heavy traffic with the nearby factories letting out.

As Rogers stopped his 2009 Ford F-250 truck, it was struck from behind by a 2005 Hyundai Outlook, driven by Angela Ross, 37, Greencastle.

Impact from the collision caused the Rogers truck to be pushed into a 1999 Dodge Durango, driven by Skylar Stonebraker, 19, Rockville, which was in turn pushed into a 1999 Plymouth Neon, driven by Kayce Kean, 19, Greencastle.

Complaining of pain after the accident, drivers Ross and Kean were transported to Putnam County Hospital via Operation Life ambulance.

Four recent citations were written by city officers.

• At 11:45 p.m. Nov. 24, Austin Merrell, 19, Greencastle, was cited by Reserve Officer Billy Wallace.

Stopped on 10th Street, Merrell was ticketed for passing in violation of signs and markings.

• At 12:16 a.m. Nov. 24, Michael Hunter, 39, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Brad Hiatt.

Pulled over on South Jackson Street, Hunter was cited for an expired license plate (June 2016).

• At 10:30 p.m. Nov. 23, Tara Campbell, 30, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Hiatt.

Stopped on South Jackson Street, Campbell was ticketed for an expired license plate (July 2016) and issued a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to a pair of recent accidents.

• At 6:48 p.m. on Tuesday, Benjamin F. Wiggs, 30, Greencastle, was westbound on U.S. 40 just east of the Indiana State Police post in a 1998 Honda Accord when he hit a deer.

Deputy Riley Houghton estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 5:34 a.m. on Tuesday, Teresa M. Burgess, 45, Rosedale, was eastbound on U.S. 40 near County Road 775 West in a 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse when a deer ran into the driver’s side of her car.

Deputy Houghton estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.
