County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 2:47 p.m. Taren Ray Proctor, 18, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance.

• At 11:21 a.m. Trevor Leland Hewitt, 31, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a court order.

• At 8:50 a.m. Nathan L. Bousman, 39, Greencastle, was arrested for probation violation.

Friday

• At 10:46 p.m. Michael James Vance, 26, Greencastle, was booked in on a pair of local warrants for failure to appear on an original charge of driving with a suspended license.

• At 11:16 a.m. Shakayla Anne Whitley, 20, Indianapolis, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

• At 9:19 a.m. Dylan Alexander Romandine, 21, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a warrant for possession of marijuana.

City Police

A 45-year-old Greencastle man was arrested on alcohol-related charges following a two-vehicle accident just west of Greencastle early Saturday, City Police report.

Jeffrey Tincher was lodged in the Putnam County Jail after a 1:51 a.m. accident near the entrance to the DePauw Nature Park on West Walnut Street Road.

Tincher, who was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, registered a blood-alcohol content of .088 percent on portable breathalyzer testing, Officer Matt Huffman reported.

Tincher was reportedly westbound on West Walnut, driving a 2005 Ford F-150 truck, when the vehicle went left of center on the icy roadway, colliding with an eastbound 1997 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Elliott Hardman, 34, Greencastle.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

Two other recent accidents were investigated by Greencastle officers.

• At 9:47 a.m. Sunday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on the lot at the Speedway station at Indianapolis and Round Barn roads.

Capt. Chris Jones reported that a 2004 Ford F-150 truck, driven by Morris Allen, 73, Fillmore, was entering the lot from Indianapolis Road as James McGuire, 24, Spencer, was driving through the lot in a 2000 Cadillac and a collision occurred on icy pavement.

Total damage was listed at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 3:30 p.m. Friday, a two-car accident was reported on Percy Julian Drive near Avenue E.

Capt. Jones reported that Matthew Alexander, 38, Greencastle, was stopped at the Avenue E stopsign in a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am as traffic on Percy Julian Drive was backing up with Greencastle High School letting out. A would-be good samaritan reportedly waved Alexander into the southbound flow of traffic but when he entered Percy Julian Drive, his car collided with a northbound 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by Ronald Burton, 18, Fillmore.

Burton had reportedly pulled out of the GHS exit and entered the northbound turn lane, hoping to go left onto Washington Street.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated eight recent property-damage crashes.

• At 6 p.m. Saturday, Salamata Adama, 61, Bronx, N.Y., was eastbound on U.S. 40 just west of County Road 825 West in a 2004 Jeep Liberty. Adama told Deputy Riley Houghton she was in the left lane attempting to pass Jennifer L. Baker, 51, Danville, in a 2009 Honda Accord.

At that time, Adama lost control of her vehicle on the slick road. She spun out of control and collided with Baker’s car.

Adama’s SUV came to rest facing southwest in the ditch. Baker’s car came to rest on the shoulder.

Baker’s car was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 10 a.m. on Saturday, Andrea Bills, 18, Greencastle, eastbound on County Road 350 North just east of County Road 200 West in a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic.

Bills told Deputy Virgil Lanning she lost control crossing a small bridge. The car slid off the left side of the road, hit an embankment, rolled over and came to rest on its right side.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 12:09 a.m. on Saturday, William H. Davis, 59, Indianapolis, was attempting to leave Cloverdale Travel Plaza in a 2016 Peterbilt semi.

Davis explained to Deputy Houghton that due to ice on the asphalt, his tractor and trailer began sliding down the hill in the parking lot.

The vehicle slide from the top of the hill near the gas pumps down to where the semis park, colliding with a 2016 Freightliner registered to Coastal Carriers of Troy, N.Y.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 10:45 p.m. on Friday, Kayle M. Spangler, 22, Brazil, was southbound on Manhattan Road in a 1997 Nissan Maxima.

Deputy Jacob Harrington reported the vehicle began to lose control on the ice-covered road and ran off the east side, hitting a tree.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 10:31 p.m. on Friday, Charles H. Lyons, 62, Bainbridge, was northbound on U.S. 231 just north of County Road 350 North in a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer.

Lyons told Deputy Houghton he hit a patch of ice and lost control. The vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its top on the west side of the road.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

• At 6:15 a.m. on Friday, Danielle N. Walters, 24, Brazil, was eastbound on U.S. 40, approaching County Road 800 West in a 2006 Chrysler when she hit a deer.

Deputy Lanning estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 11:44 p.m. on Thursday, Kenneth M. Jones, 29, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 575 West in a 2015 Ford F350 when he hit a deer.

Deputy Mike Downing estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 6:05 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, David H. Jewell, 36, Poland, was northbound on U.S. 231, approaching U.S. 40 in a 2003 Chevrolet when he hit a deer.

Deputy Lanning estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.
