Tiger Cub baseball to host hitting camp

Greencastle High School’s baseball program is sponsoring its inaugural “Holiday Hitting Camp” on Dec. 30.

The camp will be from 1 to 3 p.m. in the high school gymnasium, and will be for any students in grades 1-7 (not limited to Greencastle students).

The camp will be conducted by new varsity coach Ben Wells, along with past and present Tiger Cub players, and is designed to provide instruction and batting drills to improve and increase development in strength, technique and mental approach to hitting.

Cost is $15 ($10 for additional children in immediate family). Pre-registration is requested, but not required.

Participants are to enter door No. 5 at McAnally Center and bring a bat and glove.

• Laps for Life set in January — Greencastle High School swimming and diving is hosting its fourth annual Laps for Life on Jan. 14.

This fundraiser raises money for the high school swim program and the American Cancer Society.

The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the high school pool.

• Recruiting fair scheduled — Cascade High School will host the Central Indiana Athletic Recruiting Fair on March 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is for junior and senior student-athletes and parents who are interested in playing college athletics at the Division II, Division III and NAIA levels.

The event will have representatives from Indiana and potentially Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio on hand to promote, discuss and speak with student-athletes and their parents.

Student-athletes will provide colleges a universal template/resume/contact information for schools they have interest in attending.
