Tiger Cubs win own holiday tourney

Greencastle has won two wrestling tournament titles in December, claiming the Putnam County championship on Dec. 15 and two days later winning its own six-team Greencastle Holiday Tourney.

Two days after winning the Putnam County wrestling championship, Greencastle’s Tiger Cubs hosted and won the Greencastle Holiday Tourney.

The Tiger Cubs went 4-0 to win the Saturday event, while Monrovia placed second at 3-1, Sullivan was third at 2-2, Turkey Run was fourth at 1-3 and Cloverdale was fifth at 0-4.

Individuals undefeated for the day (at 4-0) were:

Swimming

• Three Eagles win county — On Saturday three South Putnam athletes placed first in the Putnam County Championships.

Jenna Carmichael won in one-meter diving, while Alex Fanning had a lifetime best in winning the 100 breaststroke and Jared Seidler had an LTB in capturing the 100 backstroke.

Second-place finishes went to Jake Hutcheson in the 200 IM and Evvie Timberman in the 50 free, both with lifetime best swims.

“Despite not having a full roster for the meet and dealing with illness and injury, the team overall did a great job of pushing through for some lifetime and/or season best swims,” South Putnam coach Anna Kendall said:
