Wilbur 'Dean' Bushong

Wilbur "Dean" Bushong, 86, formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 at Franciscan Health in Dyer, Ind.

He was born on Dec. 27, 1929 in New Market to the late William and Helen (Budd) Bushong.

Dean graduated from Russellville High School with the class of 1947.

On Jan. 19, 1951 he married Dorothy (Stewart) in Martinsville. Then, on April 23, 1994, he married Ardith (Plank) in Mecca. They both preceded him in death.

Dean was a member of Russellville Community Church, and the American Legion Post 72, Crawfordsville.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Dean operated the Marathon station in Russellville for many years. He retired from Russellville Stone Co. in 1991.

He is survived by his three sons, Kim (Donna) Bushong, Peoria, Ariz., Eric (Sandy) Bushong, Dyer, Ind., Scot (Terri) Bushong, Russellville, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and daughter-in-law Clarice Bushong.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; a son, Kirby Bushong; brother Dale Bushong; and one sister, Della Maye Jackson.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Waveland, with Pastor Alan Small officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 at the funeral home.
