DePauw freshman retention rate among nation’s best

DePauw University ranks 13th for freshman retention rate in A Chronicle of Higher Education analysis among private, nonprofit colleges and universities in the United States located in towns.

DePauw and St. Olaf College, which came in at No. 12, both retained 92.7 percent of their first-year classes, according to the recently released study.

Williams College emerged as No. 1 at 97.8 percent.

The median for 184 institutions located in towns was reported as 73.1 percent.

DePauw is the top-ranked Indiana college on the list. Wabash College ranked 19th with an 89.2 percent retention rate.

The publication compiled the report using U.S. Department of Education data from 2014.
