A pair of suspects in the Dec. 7 robbery of Cloverdale Liquors are now lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Dalton C. Perryman, 26, Martinsville, and Dennis L. Kent, 40, Greencastle, are both charged in the case.

Perryman was arrested on a warrant by Cloverdale Police Sgt. Charlie Hallam Wednesday afternoon. He was booked in the jail at 1:49 p.m.

Kent has been in jail since Dec. 9 on unrelated charges.

Perryman faces three charges, Level 3 felony armed robbery, Level 3 felony conspiracy to commit armed robbery and Level 6 felony theft.

Kent is accused of Level 3 felony conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

During the course of their investigation, Putnam County Sheriff’s Department detectives Pat McFadden and Doug Nally found video surveillance, witnesses and physical evidence that they believe link the men to the robbery.

Kent, who had been employed as a clerk at Cloverdale liquors, was arrested at the store on Dec. 9 for an oustanding Owen County warrant. Owen County officials allege Kent failed to appear at a review hearing regarding a May 2016 conviction for driving with a suspended license.

At the time of his most recent arrest, just two days after the robbery, Kent was dressed in all new clothes and jewelry. He was also discovered to be in possession of methamphetamine and a controlled substance, charges for which he has remained in the Putnam County Jail since.

Kent’s criminal history also includes a pair of misdemeanor drug-related convictions in Putnam and Marion counties.

In the robbery case, Kent’s initial hearing before Putnam County Superior Court Judge Denny Bridges is set for 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 6.

In 2011, Perryman was twice convicted of Class D felony theft in separate Morgan County cases, for which he spent nearly a year committed to the Department of Correction.

No initial hearing had been set for Perryman as of Tuesday morning.
