Brice Carmichael is a senior football player at Cloverdale, who participates in 4-H and likes problem solving-activities.

Banner Graphic: How did the football season go for you?

Brice Carmichael: “I played safety, and toward the end of the season I played linebacker. It was really cool to see how well it played out. I was really happy to get the three wins; that’s more than I had had in my whole high school career. I am really proud of how the program is heading.”

BG: What other activities do you do?

Brice: “I am involved in Future Farmers of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society. I am trying to build my resume up for college. My faith is really important to me. I am a 10-year 4-H’er, and I hope to go to the State Fair this year. I would really love to do that. I do posters, ceramics, photography and foods projects.”

BG: What are your future plans?

Brice: “I want to go to college for computer hardware engineering. I am looking at Trine University in Angola in northern Indiana. They’ve been really great with their scholarship opportunities.”

BG: What classes have helped you the most?

Brice: “My math classes have definitely helped me the most. I am currently in AP Calculus. It’s been rough, but I know it’s going to pay off in the long run. Mr. Wokoun has also been a teacher I can go to in any circumstance if I need any help.”

BG: What do you like to do that is non-school related?

Brice: “I love to fish. I have a lake near our house. I love dirt bike riding. I like to hang out with friends, and I try to hang out with them as much as possible. My favorite movie is ‘Forrest Gump.’ That’s the best movie ever made. I don’t watch a lot of TV, but when I do it’s something on the Discovery Channel.”

BG: What is something that you have never done before that you want to do some day?

Brice: “Skydiving. I would love to go skydiving some day. That would be something to get the blood flowing. I’m a little scared of heights, but maybe that would help with that.”

BG: Summarize your time at Cloverdale.

Brice: “Without a doubt, it’s been the best possible time I could have had anywhere. I came here in eighth grade after having been homeschooled. I wasn’t sure how it was going to work out, but it’s been great. With homeschooling, you don’t have a lot of social interaction. It was a little bit of a culture shock with all the kids and activities going on, but I adjusted pretty well.”

BG: Anything else about you that might be interesting?

Brice: “I do a lot of things with problem solving. I love to do Rubik’s Cube; I can solve it in 45 seconds. A 5x5 I can do in five minutes. It’s all based on a set of algorithms you have to learn, a formula of steps you have to memorize.”
