Jay Randolph Mark, 66, Greencastle, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 after an extended battle with cancer.

Affectionately known as "Randy" or "JR," Jay was born May 18, 1950 in Greencastle to Harold Wayne Mark and Paula Eiteljorge Mark.

He was a 1968 graduate of Greencastle High School and held management positions in manufacturing companies, prior to joining Walmart as a professional truck driver in 1999.

Survivors include his partner, Sherlyn S. Mark; a sister, Nancy C. Mark, Greencastle; two daughters, Jamie Mark Mourey, her husband, Joe and grandchildren Brooke and Noah of Clayton, and Paula Mark Fry, her husband Dan and grandchildren Sarah, Grace and Katie of Roachdale; a nephew, Mark Kelly Wood, of Denver, Colo.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, H. Wayne Mark, mother Paula E. Mark.

Randy spent the majority of his life in Greencastle, and often said he would never live anywhere else.

While he thoroughly enjoyed his career, he loved his rural lifestyle and could be found tinkering with his tractor collection, working with his tools or honing his marksmanship on most weekends. Spending time with his children and grandchildren (especially if on the farm) was at the top of his list of life's pleasures.

His uncommon good sense, intelligence and sense of humor shall be missed by his family and many friends and colleagues.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

Visitation is scheduled 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 at the funeral home.
