County Jail

Three people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday.

• At 7:36 p.m. Barbera L. Person, 36, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 11:59 a.m. Charlotte Lynn Ladigo, 41, Lebanon, was taken into custody on a warrant.

• At 1:55 a.m. Anthony Burnett, 26, Fillmore, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and on a warrant.

City Police

A pair of recent shoplifting arrests at the Greencastle Walmart store were reported by Greencastle City Police.

At 6:49 p.m. Jan. 6, Callie Barber, 24, Greencastle, and Amy Patterson, 32, Greencastle, were arrested by Officer Brad Hiatt after Walmart loss prevention personnel reportedly observed them concealing items as they shopped.

Barber reportedly took $36.58 worth of merchandise, including two pairs of yoga pants that she reportedly rolled up and concealed beneath her sweatshirt.

It was while authorities were investigating Barber’s alleged shoplifting activity that they reportedly discovered Patterson was wearing a jacket from which she had apparently removed the tags in the store.

Further investigation revealed that Patterson had taken a reported $137.09 worth of merchandise, including the coat, a cellphone she concealed in her pocket and items such as a wallet, pliers and men’s shorts that she had put in her purse which she placed beneath the zipped-up coat.

Both women were charged with theft and were transported to the Putnam County Jail.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to one recent property damage crash.

• At 4:43 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, Scott A Pfister, 31, Terre Haute, was westbound on U.S. 40 in a 2015 Isuzu truck when a deer entered the road.

Pfister told Brown he swerved, overcorrected and left the road, hitting several trees.

The truck was towed. Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
