Lavon Smith

Harriett Lavon Smith, 88, of Greencastle, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017.

Mrs. Smith was born, April 23, 1928 in Jackson, Mich., to Wilbur Clifford and Ethel (Lewis) Smith.

She was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and attended Butler University.

She had been a teller at First Citizens, Old Evansville and Old National banks.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and volunteered at Putnam County Hospital.

Mrs. Smith is survived by sons, Douglas (Juanita M.) and Dale K. (Sue Finstick) Smith; grandchildren, Amelia M. White and Renee N. Smith; and great-granddaughter, Cora Grace Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James C. Smith, and brother, Lloyd Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, where friends and family will gather at 11 a.m. for visitation. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
