A 23-year-old Indianapolis man is facing the Class A misdemeanor charge of theft after a reported weekend shoplifting incident, Greencastle City Police reported.

Timothy Joe Etter was arrested by Officer Brad Hiatt at 8:15 p.m. Saturday at the Walmart Superstore in Greencastle after store officials alleged he concealed a set of Magic Cards -- a trading card game representing a battle between wizards -- and attempted to leave the store without paying.

The cards are valued at $130.

Etter appeared in Putnam Superior Court on Monday, entering a preliminary not-guilty plea before being released on $150 bond.

He has been ordered not to enter Walmart until further order of the court.

Two property-damage accidents were investigated Monday by city officers.

Capt. Charles Inman reported that Jacob Capps, 24, Roachdale, was stopped westbound on Indianapolis Road when the brakes on his 1995 Dodge Ram malfunctioned and the pickup truck lurched forward, striking a 2000 Chrysler Voyager, which was stopped directly in front of Capps. Dexter Scott, 27, Greencastle, was driving the Voyager.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000 in the accident.

Seeing a 2010 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Jaxon Parmley, 16, Greencastle, approaching, Matthies told Capt. Inman she thought he was slowing to turn right without signaling and pulled out in front of the Parmley vehicle.

Parmley swerved left but was unable to avoid the collision, police said.
