The School of Music will soon be welcoming everyone back to campus on Monday and as classes resume, so does its Spring 2017 event schedule --beginning with the weekly Student Recital Hour and first Lunch Box Music offering at Music on the Square.

Student Recital Hour

Wednesday, Feb. 3

10:20 a.m.

Green Center, Thompson Recital Hall

DePauw's weekly recital hour features live music by talented School of Music students -- and occasional guests!

Lunch Box Music@M2: Ming-Hui Kuo, percussion, with Amanda Hopson, piano, and Scotty Stepp, saxophone

Friday, Feb. 3

Noon--1 p.m.

Music on the Square, 21 N. Indiana St.

The musical menu for percussionist Ming-Hui Kuo's FREE lunch hour concert at M2 includes pieces featuring marimba as the main course, with sides of vibraphone, saxophone, piano, gongs, triangles and many other tasty sounds. The appetizer on this informal program of playing and chatting will be Piazonore, Alexej Gerassimez's adventurous interpretation of Astor Piazzolla's Libertango. Selections from David Maslanka's Song Book offer big helpings of warm and cozy comfort food for marimba and saxophone duo. The Concerto for Marimba and String Orchestra, in a piano reduction by Emmanuel Séjourne, includes two exotic sides: a dramatic, emotional first movement with a zesty second in a spicy Spanish dance style.

A limited number of box lunches by Bon Appétit will also be available for purchase at M2.
